History

It is notable for allowing online play between all three versions at the same time, and is one of the few online-enabled games that can still be played online in the present. This Dreamcast version was a North American exclusive, despite it being advertised on European magazine ads as well as mentioned on the region's boxes of the PC and Mac releases.

Sequels and re-releases

It was followed by 4x4 EVO 2 in 2001, although this did not reach Dreamcast.
