Fighters MegamixFrom Sega Retro
Fighters Megamix (ファイターズメガミックス) is a 1997 fighting game developed by Sega AM2 and published by Sega for the Sega Saturn. Several characters from various Sega games make up the cast, including the complete cast of Virtua Fighter 2 and Fighting Vipers. Also included are cameo characters from other games such as Janet from Virtua Cop 2 and the Hornet car from Daytona USA. It still remains as one of the best Saturn games, and one of the best in the genre during the 32-bit era. The game followed Virtua Fighter 2 as a high-profile 3D fighting game for the Sega Saturn. Fighters Megamix used a concept originally used in King of Fighters and mixes characters and styles from different games. The open ended arenas from Virtua Fighter are used (but without ring-out) and also the close cages from Fighting Vipers. The VF characters are given several moves from Virtua Fighter 3 and a new "Dodge" move is also introduced. The dodge move allows players to sidestep and avoid an attack while also opening up an opportunity to counter. Unlike most other fighting games by Sega AM2, Fighters Megamix had no arcade release. However a watered down version was released for the Game.com in 1998.
CharactersAt the start, only the characters from Virtua Fighter 2 and Fighters Megamix are available, extra fighters can be unlocked by completing different courses (series of six bouts). Those characters are all based on other Sega games. Virtua Fighter 2
