The Homestar (ホームスター) is a projector created by Sega Toys in conjunction with Takayuki Ohira.

The Homestar was designed to project "high resolution discs" onto a ceiling or flat surface - initially 60,000 stars (with or without mapped constellations) from the Northern hemisphere, as it was thought people living in the densely populated urban centres of Japan were unable to witness these sights first hand due to light pollution. The image rotates, and random meteorites also appear from time to time when active.

The device was very successful in Japan, leading to an international release and numerous upgraded models in the years that followed. These 2006 models were only available in black - the "standard" Homestar, now the Homestar Classic is similar in design but is offered in different colours.
