The Pinball Experience Moves Home and Into the Video-Game Environment

MILPITAS, Calif., Nov. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Time Warner Interactive (TWi), a veteran in the video-game industry, today announced plans to publish "Last Gladiators Digital Pinball(TM)" for the Sega Saturn(TM) this November. It's an all-call bulletin for pinball loving gamers. "Last Gladiators" offers the fluid ball movements, accurate sound effects, table-nudge jostling, and flipper-like controls, that act and feel like the real deal. The pinball experience is recreated with the added impact of video-game graphics and special effects, a driving rock music soundtrack, and a 3D perspective. TWi has retained the rights to publish "Last Gladiators Digital Pinball" in North, Central, and South America from KAZe of Japan. The game will carry an estimated street price of $59.95.

"We were very impressed with the quality of KAZe's "Last Gladiators Digital Pinball." The game has sold very well in Japan and reviews in this country have been excellent," said Mark Beaumont, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Product Development at TWi. "Pinball games are perenially popular for all ages and genders, offering Time Warner Interactive a terrific sales opportunity during the gift-giving season. We have a competitive advantage by delivering one of the best quality pinball titles of the year, plus a wide-open lead with the first pinball game on the Sega Saturn system."

Last Gladiators lets the player vanquish and conquer through pinball victory. The game features four completely different pinball arcade games all with a gallant flair: Gladiators, Knight of the Roses, Dragon Showdown, and Warlock.

Cradle the ball on the flipper, fire away at the target, and nudge both sides of the machine as you rack up millions of points. Nail the right targets and experience multi-ball sessions with as many as five pinballs shooting up ramps, flying off bumpers, or bearing down on your overwhelmed flippers. "Last Gladiators Digital Pinball" provides the visceral sensation of playing pinball with "nudge" and "tilt" features for dislodging a trapped ball or adding momentum to its course. The 3D perspective realistically recreates four pinball games complete with barriers, steel balls, ramps, pits, and flippers.

Last Gladiators' software engine was created with algorithms replicating the laws of physics to provide accurate pinball dynamics. The end result is a video-game that acts and reacts like a real-world pinball machine; balls fly over slick surfaces when pushed off the flippers, careen into barriers, drop down holes and chutes, crash into one another and slam back away, just as you would expect.

As a Knight of the pinball world, you'll rely on the lively bumpers and flippers, elevated rails and ramps, and hidden portals to score big and secure victory. Go for major bonus selections and multi-ball action. Target lanes with ramp shots for thousands of points, get lucky with a mystery bonus, or set out for the 'million grail' with a jet bumper or sling shot.
