SEATTLE - February 19, 1997 - Nordstrom and Sega GameWorks(TM) announced today that they will team up to offer a 'preview' of the much-anticipated GameWorks Seattle, opening downtown in March.

Beginning on February 19, game enthusiasts can visit the Brass Plum at Seattle area Nordstrom stores and warm up for the opening by climbing aboard WAVERUNNER, Sega's new real-motion nautical racing simulator. Sega's Alpine Racer and MANX TT high-speed motor cycle chase will also be available for 'test racing' at the downtown and Bellevue locations.

Nordstrom will also offer window shoppers a look at GameWorks through a series of window displays at the flagship downtown Nordstrom location. The six windows will showcase a mix of Brass Plum fashion, GameWorks design elements and sound effects. A signature interactive window will highlight the GameWorks window series.

Brass Plum will be the only location where shoppers can register in advance for the GameWorks Web, a membership program that will track and give incentives for frequent play, provide access to the GameWorks internal entertainment system and offer other benefits. In addition, for an exclusive period through opening, Nordstrom shoppers can purchase GameWorks smart cards -- the unique and convenient payment method for all purchases at GameWorks. Nordstrom will also offer 450 Brass Plum customers and their guests the chance to explore GameWorks before it opens to the public at a Brass Plum-hosted preview party on March 8.

"Because GameWorks represents such a visionary and innovative approach to entertainment, we're excited to be able to offer our customers an opportunity to experience in advance the excitement that GameWorks will bring to downtown," said Pete Nordstrom, co-president.

"All types of customers will get to experience the world of GameWorks at Nordstrom," said Michael Montgomery, president & COO, Sega GameWorks. "Brass Plum offers a wonderful environment to show off the look and feel of GameWorks Seattle."

Nordstrom, one of the nation's leading fashion specialty retailers, operates 83 stores in 17 states. In 1995, the company reported sales of $4.1 billion.
