Midway Adds Army Men-TM- Sarge's Heroes-TM- to its Sega Dreamcast-TM- Line-up; Worldwide Licensing Agreement With 3DO Will Bring Top-Selling Army Men Franchise to the Sega Dreamcast Game Console in Time for Christmas 2000.

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 14, 2000

Midway Games Inc.(NYSE: MWY) today announced a licensing agreement with The 3DO Company (Nasdaq: THDO) whereby Midway will publish a Sega Dreamcast version of Army Men - Sarge's Heroes, a top-selling game for the Nintendo(R) 64 game console. Midway plans to launch the 128-bit, Dreamcast version this fall, in time for the 2000 Christmas season. The game blasted to the top of the charts when it appeared last September on the Nintendo(R)64 platform, debuting at No. 2 on the NPD charts in its first month of retail sales, and remaining in the Top 10 Best-Selling Nintendo Titles for five months. The game remains in the Top 10 Video Game Rentals as reported by VIDTRAC. Since its launch last fall, Midway has emerged as a leading third-party game developer for the fast selling Dreamcast platform.

Sarge's Heroes, a highly unique action shooting game, features Sarge, a one-man wrecking ball leading a toy soldier offensive across countertops, through hallways, and into backyards, fighting for the "Green" way of life. Challenges along the way include explosive sky rockets, horrific magnifying glasses and the dreaded garbage disposal.

"Army Men is an established franchise that has achieved tremendous success on multiple platforms," said Mike Ribero, Executive Vice President of Midway Games Inc. "By utilizing the advanced technology available on Dreamcast, we'll be able to enhance the already stunning graphics and animations that have made Sarge and his crew of plastic toy soldiers so popular with millions of players around the world."

Sega recently announced that total shipments of the Sega Dreamcast game console had reached 4.4 million at the end of 1999. They expect to sell six million units in North America alone by March 2001.

The 3DO Company, headquartered in Redwood City, CA, develops, publishes and distributes interactive entertainment software for personal computers, the Internet, and advanced entertainment systems such as the PlayStation(R) game console and the Nintendo(R) 64 video game system.
