OutRun 2 SP SDX is another update to 2 and 2 SP. It stands for "OutRun 2 Special Tours Super Deluxe". The biggest difference with this version is that it was designed for Sega Lindbergh arcade hardware, rather than previous versions which were developed with Sega Chihiro arcade hardware in mind. This allows the game to run at an 800x480 resolution rather than 640x480.

Two versions of the cabinet were produced. The 2-Player cabinet is designated as DX (Deluxe), and the 4-Player cabinet is designated as SDX (Super Deluxe), with raceview cameras on the players, and a live leaderboard over the center units. These large, expensive SDX units are designed for large game centers and amusement parks as a special attraction.

Also included is cooperative play, where up to four players can race on the same track at once. 2-player cabinets are titled OutRun 2 SP DX while 4-player cabinets use the name OutRun 2 SP SDX.
