Soul Star (ソウルスター) is a Sega Mega-CD third person shooter. An upgraded Sega 32X version, known as Soul Star X was once in development but was never released.

Gameplay

Soul Star makes heavy use of the Sega Mega-CD's scaling feature to acchive a pseudo 3D effect. Some stages keep scrolling automatically, similar to games like Space Harrier, while others can be explored freely, akin to Core Design's own Thunderhawk.

FMV cutscenes are used for briefings, available in multiple languages for the PAL release.

The game is partially non-linear. Players could choose their route after finishing the first mission.
