"How to pronounce Gaiares"

  • In Japan/referring to the JP release: "GuyArrEss". Almost like you're saying "Guy R S". But most importantly, an "Ehh" sound instead of an "Eee" sound. And as Japanese "Ehh" and "Uhh" sounds can often get confused, we get:
  • Elsewhere/referring to the Western release: it's gets more complicated. English speakers tend to identify the word "Gaia" and then add emphasis, so it comes out like "Guy-R-Uss" or "Guy-R-Eez". Officially, it's the former pronunciation (says Renovation.)

None of this is super important in the long run, but I spent a lot of dumb time thinking about this. It's part of the game in a small way so hey, pronunciation. EDIT: Wait I remembered why I made this section. Basically, it might be slightly notable that Renovation misheard the pronunciation of the "Ess" in Gaiares as "Uss" and that's why they printed the shirts as saying "Us" and not "Ess". Could have also been that the two previous words they used to explain the pronunciation were "Guy" and "Are", both actual words people already known how to pronounce, and even if "Ess" was more accurate, they went with "Us" knowing people would be more familiar with the word. Which, I suppose I can't really blame them for, but hey. Observations. CartridgeCulture (talk) 20:52, 11 December 2021 (EST)
