From Sega Retro

Hello, my name is Allison and I'm a brazilian fan of Sega. If you need help translating stuff from portuguese to english or vice-versa, feel free to contact me.
I'm currently trying to contribute as much as I can, mostly with info about Tectoy's releases and related scans since they were part of my childhood, but I'll try to add info about releases of other countries as well.

Regarding prices of BR releases

Brazil used 4 different currencies between 1989 and nowadays, making it difficult to add the prices to the pages. No idea if the admins can use such info but it was extracted from the official site of the "Banco do Brasil" (main/government brazilian bank):

  • 1989/01/16~1990/03/15 — Name: Cruzado Novo / Symbol: NCz$
  • 1990/03/16~1993/07/30 — Name: Cruzeiro / Symbol: Cr$ / Value: remained the same
  • 1993/08/01~1994/06/30 — Name: Cruzeiro Real / Symbol: CR$ / Value: 3 less zeroes (Example: Cr$ 500,000.00 = CR$ 500.00)
  • 1994/07/01~now — Name: Real / Symbol: R$ / Value: at the time it changed CR$ 2,700.00 = R$ 1.00

This is relevant because the Master System was first released in 1989-09 (NCz$), the Mega Drive in 1990/11 (Cr$) and Sega Saturn in 1995/05 (R$), for example.

Streets of Rage 2: Gameplay

Enemies

{{{imagewidths}}} Galsia
Like in the previous game Galsia is a common street punk, who's very weak, has pretty low life and doesn't have special attacks. Sometimes he shows up running wielding a knife and can be annoying.
{{{imagewidths}}} Donovan
Donovan is a thug characterized by sunglasses and for being skinhead. He has a special uppercut that's used, occasionally, to counter players' flying kicks. Sometimes he appears wielding pipes, or grab them on the ground.
{{{imagewidths}}} Signal Gang
Another enemy already known from the previous game, characterized by the mo-hawk and for being taller than the other punks. He is quite slow, but has the abilities of throwing the players and a sliding attack that can knock you down. His variations, except for Axi and Mavin, are named after the color of the jacket. For example: Y. Signal, R. Signal and G. Signal, wear yellow, red and green jackets, respectively.
{{{imagewidths}}} Biker Gang
Members of the Biker Gang wear a full-face helmet and, sometimes, appear riding motorcycles. This guy has a special punch that's strong enough to knock you down and can grab you from behind. The name variations are all related to weather conditions/phenomenons, such as Fog, Storm and Typhoon.
{{{imagewidths}}} Hanzo
Ninjutsu enemies usually come wielding either a Katana or a Kunai, which can deal a lot of damage. They move quite fast, have a Ninjutsu sidestep technique to dodge your attacks, can throw Shurikens mid-air while jumping, flying kicks to knock you down and the ability of throwing you away as well.
{{{imagewidths}}} Hakuyo
Known as Haku-Oh previously, they are students of the traditional millenarian Chinese Shaolin Kung Fu art. They can still perform powerful flying kicks, upward kicks to counter players' attacks and a very strong palm strike, similar to one of Blaze's special moves, which will throw you away and knock you down.
{{{imagewidths}}} Jack
Jack is another character re-used from the first game, but this time looks like a punk instead of a clown and has grown more muscles. He throws knives when you stand still far from him and uses them for slashing when you get close. He has a infinite supply of knives and can do moderate damage, but is quite easy to kill. All his name variations (Jack, Beano and Soya) come from Japanese bean snacks released at the time.
{{{imagewidths}}} Electra
Electra, previously named Nora, and all her variations, always come at you armed with a electric whip. She is the only female enemy found in the game. She first appears as a sub-boss on the first round, just before Barbon leave his bartender position to fight you. Besides the whip, she can also perform a flying kick which knocks you down.
{{{imagewidths}}} Big Ben
Big Ben is a big fat guy based on Bongo, the 4th boss of the first game, who has been demoted to sub-boss and highly weakened. He can run around spitting fire like before, but it happens less frequently and you can now throw him without getting smashed by his weight. Watch out for face-slapping sequence if you get close enough and be aware that he can perform a body press if you get distracted.
{{{imagewidths}}} Kickboxer
The kickboxers first appear in Round 5 and have powerful kicks. The name variations are all after birds: Eagle, Raven and so on. This enemy isn't present in the Game Gear version.
{{{imagewidths}}} Vehelits
Sub-boss in Round 3.

20 em 1: Gameplay

All of the games grant you 60 seconds to reach a certain score, which varies from game to game. In most of the games the only buttons available are Left and Right, which move the character to the respective direction, some games allow you to jump with button 1, and a few of them have an action, such as shooting, available with button 2.

You are a construction worker who has to catch tools, which fall vertically from the top of the screen, using a bucket.
20em1 SMS BR Game02.png Game 02
You control a hungry lunar creature, that needs to collect pieces of cake and burgers while avoiding explosive obstacles, which will decrease your score if touched. On this game the screen scrolls both to the right and to the left, and every time it is done the items and obstacles on the floor change. You can also use the Up and Down buttons, while moving horizontally.
20em1 SMS BR Game03.png Game 03
