Vectorman 3, also known as Vectorman 3: Ultra, is an unreleased Sega Mega Drive, Sega Game Gear, and Sega Saturn game developed by BlueSky Software. Once considered for a September 1997 launch[1], the game was ultimately left undeveloped.

History

After the release of Vectorman 2 in November 1996, BlueSky pitched a sequel to Sega of America. The following month, Next Generation published a rumor on their website that the third game was in development, and would be released on the Sega Saturn.[3] BlueSky artist Ellis Goodson created a number of pieces of concept art, and Jason Weesner produced a design document for the game. Judging from known information, Vectorman 3 would have consisted of some sort of side-scrolling gameplay in either 2D or 2.5D.

While internal Sega documentation places Vectorman 3 as a game for the Mega Drive and Game Gear, some BlueSky developers instead indicate the project was instead planned for the upcoming Nintendo 64 (then known as the Ultra 64, hence the "Ultra" moniker). Regardless, development eventually migrated to the Saturn, where a planned release sometime in late 1997 was hoped to take place.
