Feel the Fear Three Different Ways ATLANTA, ELECTRONIC ENTERTAINMENT EXPO, Booth, #3723, June 19-21, 1997 -- Extraterrestrial terror reigns supreme in Fox Interactive's Aliens vs. Predator (AvP), a hard-core combat, arcade style action/adventure. AvP, a frightening, deep space quest featuring two of Twentieth Century Fox's hottest sci-fi assets, is sure to shake up even the most courageous gamer, and is slated to splatter on retail shelves in first quarter, 1998 for PlayStation, Saturn and Windows® '95. "AvP gives players the opportunity to challenge or become sci-fi characters that have seared their way into the popular culture," said Jon Richmond, president, Fox Interactive. "This is finally the opportunity to feel the fear and experience the ultimate in sci-fi terror in entirely different ways, with three distinctly different character roles." Combining story elements from the films Aliens and Predator, AvP invites you to choose between three different first-person perspectives: Alien, Predator or Colonial Marine. Your mission varies depending upon the role you choose, offering a completely diverse gaming experience, with different game objectives and accompanying weapons. Fueled by a new 3D engine, AvP also features multi-player capabilities enabling gamers to battle it out online as their favorite character. AvP is a completely non-linear world, allowing you to revisit earlier levels, which is often necessary to progress through the plot. You have total freedom of movement (look up and down, jump and crouch) through a full physics modeling feature which enables different points of view, and allows objects like fragmentation grenades to bounce and spin around corners. Dynamic lighting adds to the spectacle of the game, immersing you in the atmosphere. For example, flares fired down a corridor progressively light up the walls as you move away from the flare. AvP's incredible 3D environment sets the stage for the chilling conflict that arises at the edge of the universe. Hell breaks loose on an outlying planet which is used by military and corporate interests for biological warfare research. Ferocious new weapons have been created by infecting animal hosts with alien embryos, spawning a cybernetically enhanced version of the Alien Xenomorph and the infection of a Predator by the same creature. When the research facility is sabotaged, the alien creatures escape and set off on a rampage of deadly destruction. The result is a furious, action-packed game which not only requires you to use strategy and brute force to kill the nemesis, but lets you become the "enemy" as well. As the Alien, your mission is survival with the help of an arsenal of weapons that includes acid spit, your own very deadly tail and claws, and a top secret weapon that immediately upgrades you into a Xenoborg. Blink and it could be fatal. You can run with lightening speed, on walls and ceilings, move through air ducts and use unique vision and alien senses. As each level progresses, your strength multiplies until you ultimately becomes the most powerful and destructive player in the game. In the role of the Predator, you begin armed only with wrist-blades and a shoulder cannon. Part of the crew of a captured scout ship, you were released by the sabotage of the base's security system. You must find your weapons and the parts of the spaceship which have been removed for research, locate your crewmates and either rescue them or avenge their demise. Scanning prey with infrared vision, you rely on wrist blades, throwing disc, shoulder cannon, pistol and rifle to destroy everything and everyone in your path. The Marine's goal is to survive. Having just returned from a solo training mission, you have expended all of your resources and must scout out more ammunition and weapons in an attempt to make his way through the base. Your mission is to recover and secure the five Data Tapes containing Pandora Base's research records and reveal your objectives, which include initiating the bases' self destruct mechanism to prevent the Xenomorph infestation from spreading throughout space and fleeing the planet. In order to take on the treacherous onslaught of Aliens and the Predator, you are equipped with an image intensifier, motion tracker, armor, medical kits and display mapping. Your weapons include a pulse rifle (with grenades), auto-shotgun, smart gun (self targeting, 50 rounds a second and very useful for shooting Aliens on the ceiling), plasma gun, rocket launcher, flame thrower and a multi-ammo grenade launcher. AvP will terrorize fans everywhere in first quarter of 1998.
