 SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 16, 1999--

Capcom Entertainment, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of coin-operated and video games, Friday detailed their plans to support the upcoming launch of Sega Dreamcast video game system in the United States.

Capcom's incredible line-up of products the arcade perfect translations of Power Stone(tm), Marvel vs. Capcom(tm), and Street Fighter(r) Alpha 3 and the highly anticipated Resident Evil(tm): Code Veronica. Capcom uses powerful Sega development technology in its new coin-operated games. Capcom's support of the Sega Dreamcast includes Sega's exclusive deal with Hollywood Video, the sole retailer to rent the 128-bit Sega Dreamcast videogame system. Power Stone will be available for rental at Hollywood Video on August 1 and Marvel vs. Capcom on August 30.

The marketing campaign for the Sega Dreamcast line of products also includes television and print advertising, extensive publicity support, new package design, cooperative promotional sponsorships with Sega, retail brochures, and a variety of custom retail displays. Power Stone is scheduled to release September 1, 1999; Marvel vs. Capcom on September 9; and Street Fighter Alpha 3 in October. Resident Evil: Code Veronica is scheduled to release in November.

Power Stone is a breathtaking fantasy fighter with mesmerizing graphics and non-stop action. Based on the arcade game using Sega's Naomi arcade board, Power Stone is the first fully interactive 3-D game where players interact with the environment. Eight mysterious characters pit their skills against each other in beautifully landscaped, 3D environments as they battle to collect power stones. These stones have the power to transform characters into a raging super beings, capable of executing crushing "power drive" and "power fusion" moves. The Power Stone collection feature allows players to view the powerful items and weapons they have gained and each item can be activated or deactivated in extra option menu. In Power Stone, character's can grab a light post, pick up a barrel, or run up a wall to execute high-powered attacks on their helpless enemy. Detailed 3D characters provide depth and add a sense of realism never before seen.

Capcom brings its number one blockbuster, arcade fantasy fighter to the Sega Dreamcast in Marvel vs. Capcom. This Tag-Team fighter pits 15 characters from the entire Capcom and Marvel universes against one another for a final battle against the diabolical villain, Onslaught. Each character possesses special powers and fighting techniques unique to each hero. This flawless arcade translation features lightning quick and seamless animation that lets players see up to four characters simultaneously fighting on the screen. Before Sega Dreamcast, it has not been possible to have 4 characters on screen at all times. Marvel vs. Capcom also introduces the variable cross maneuver that allows players to call their partner character on-screen and perform unlimited Hyper combos. An additional 20 "helper" characters will assist your team in times of need.

Capcom's world famous Street Fighter series comes to Sega Dreamcast in Street Fighter Alpha 3. This arcade perfect translation of the arcade phenomenon reunites 33 popular characters from the Street Fighter universe. The game includes the special hidden characters made popular in the arcade version and offers players three different selectable fighting styles, plus the skill building World Tour Mode. Street Fighter Alpha 3 delivers more hard-hitting fighters than ever before and gives players a host of new options, faster gameplay, more precise control, and rapid move reversals. The game also features multiple layers of scrolling and awesome lighting effects.

The series that invented the survival/horror genre and spawned many imitations comes to Sega Dreamcast with Resident Evil: Code Veronica(tm). In this Sega Dreamcast exclusive, Claire Redfield searches for her missing brother, Chris, a member of the elite squad of S.T.A.R.S. With little clues of his whereabouts, Claire leaves Raccoon City and heads to Europe where she faces the diabolical Umbrella Corporation head on. True to the Resident Evil series, Code Veronica once again proves Capcom's ability to develop an engrossing and haunting story line and spine chilling gameplay.
