Sega Prepares for SegaNet Launch With Newly Acquired License

for NexGenIP, an Open Embedded TCP/IP Stack

Sega.com(TM) today announced a worldwide license for NexGenIP(R), a complete embedded TCP/IP stack developed by NexGen Software, a French based software company. This license will allow Dreamcast developers worldwide to access a complete networking suite to design online games for Sega Dreamcast(TM), the only Internet-ready videogame console with a built-in modem and its own high-speed console gaming network and ISP - SegaNet(TM). The license was acquired by Sega of Europe.

On September 7th, Sega will take gamers where gaming is going - which is online. For the first time in the history of the entertainment industry, SegaNet will allow gamers to compete against each other on a videogame console via the Internet. With access to NexGen's software and a variety of online development tools, developers will be able to create better online videogames for Dreamcast owners.
