Tokyo Joypolis (東京ジョイポリス) is an indoor theme park located in the Decks Tokyo Beach shopping complex in Odaiba. It was opened alongside the mall in July 1996 as the fourth Joypolis venue by Sega.

Tokyo Joypolis is the largest and most successful Joypolis, and the only venue to still be operational in Japan. It has been remodelled and reopened twice in near-30 years of operations, once in December 2000 and again in July 2012.

Layout

Tokyo Joypolis is located on the third floor of Decks Tokyo Beach, and is spread over three (once loosely-themed) floors (3F, 4F and 5F):

Introduced in April 2013, the official mascot of Tokyo Joypolis is Joypoli-kun (ジョイポリくん), a pair of white creatures (whose names are "unknown") which when combined form a heart shape. As well as appearing in the park in person, Joypoli-kun features in merchandise sold within the park. According to his backstory, Joypoli-kun is said to have simply washed up on the beach one day, and is currently striving to become a staff member at Tokyo Joypolis.[2]

LOPIT, a digital entertainer who performs stage shows for guests, acts as the venue's secondary mascot.

History

Tokyo Joypolis reopened on the 2nd December 2000 with five new attractions[3]; Gekiryu: Wild River, Gekisou: Wild Jungle, Otogirisou, Speed Boarder and Viva! Skydiving. This coincided with Decks opening a second building, the "Island Mall" on the site[4].

The second major rennovation began on the 10th January 2012[5], with the new Joypolis opening its doors six months later on the 14th July.
