Shenmue Online is an unreleased MMORPG set in the Shenmue universe once set to be released for Windows and Mac computers.
Originally announced in 2004 as a joint venture between Sega Corporation and JC Entertainment, players would join one of three clans led by Shen Hua, Xiu Ying, and Wu Ying Ren, all significant characters from Shenmue II, and would participate in various scenarios from that game.
While the game entered beta testing, it was generally not well received by players, leading to JC Entertainment to abandon the project in 2005. While Yu Suzuki was adamant the game would be finished regardless, it has not been seen since 2006.
