Champion Baseball (チャンピオンベースボール) is an arcade baseball game developed by Alpha Denshi. Sega Enterprises, Ltd. distributed the game worldwide, and produced an SG-1000 port in 1983. Alpha Denshi also made a sequel, only released in arcades.

Synopsis

Squeeze, steal, and double play......!!

This is a fully appealing and thrilling baseball game in which you can enjoy imaginable kinds of baseball patterns one after another as in an actual game.

This game allows you to compete against the computer team (the P team versus the C team). Also, this game now permits 2 players to compete against each other and assures that your enjoyment will be doubly increased.

History

Champion Baseball was a hugely successful arcade game in Japan, even receiving its own dedicated parlours in the country (of the sort first seen with Space Invaders in 1978). Sega had sold at least 15,000 units in Japan before bringing the game to the US.[8]

The SG-1000 port, however, was criticized for the slow speed, confuse hit detection (is practically impossible to known if the ball was hit or the opposite team catched the ball), simplistic graphics (even for the system's limitations) and grating sound effects.
