Motivations regarding ''specific'' video games is bad. "Yu Suzuki made ''OutRun'' because he liked the film Cannonball Run" - when we start describing individual games we end up repeating outselves. This page is describing Hang-On, Virtua Racing, Virtua Fighter and Shenmue - it doesn't need to - they all have their pages. | Motivations regarding ''specific'' video games is bad. − | Not really interested in quotes. My argument is that if we're taking lines off interviews, the interviews in full should be hosted on Sega Retro somewhere (like we do on Sonic Retro). There are some crappy templates for this purpose but they might need tweaking. This is again something Wikipedia can't and won't do because it likes to link to external sources - Sega Retro is all about keeping as much Sega stuff internally as possible. | + | Not really interested in quotes. Some of the games' genres on these new tables (are they even necessary?) don't match the ones in games' pages. --AllisonKidd (talk) 18:48, 25 June 2015 (CDT)
- Yes a table is excessive and harder to maintain.
- And the reason Sega Retro:Determining Genre exists, not just for accuracy, is because there can be huge debates about classifying certain games into sub-genres. -Black Squirrel (talk) 11:31, 26 June 2015 (CDT)
- It's a shame both of you disagree. I just thought a table would look more presentable than a plain list. If the genres are the main issue, then I wouldn't have minded removing them. Over9000 (talk)
ground rules
Over the last few months I've watched from a distance as Over9000 has added more and more to this page, only to see Trippled take it away. It was definitely bloated... but... you've taken out the wrong bits? I should probably step in?
This page, Yu Suzuki, should be about the man, Yu Suzuki. So while we probably don't need to care much for his non-Sega personal life or things like that, his story about getting into Sega, moving up the career ladder, and then leaving is worth documenting.
Any meaningful descriptions of the games he created don't need to be on this page - those games have their own pages. So, "in 1986, Yu Suzuki produced OutRun" is good, "OutRun is a game where you drive a not-Ferrari Ferrari and it was nice and we liked it" should be put on the OutRun page.
Motivations regarding general video game development is good. "Yu Suzuki is a big fan of Ferraris, hence games x, y, z".
Motivations regarding specific video games is bad. "Yu Suzuki made OutRun because he liked the film Cannonball Run" - when we start describing individual games we end up repeating outselves. This page is describing Hang-On, Virtua Racing, Virtua Fighter and Shenmue - it doesn't need to - they all have their pages.
Not really interested in quotes. We are not Wikipedia. Still.
If the interview came from a magazine, link to the magazine. If it's from a video... the video might be worth uploading too.
