The Joystick (ジョイスティック) SJ-200 was the standard issue controller for the SG-1000. Designed before the days of D-pads, the SJ-200 has a joystick and two buttons mounted on the sides of the unit. A Pioneer branded model came bundled with the Pioneer TV Video Game Pack SD-G5.
The SJ-200 is plagued with many problems. The joystick is unresponsive, the controller's lead is noticeably short and the build quality is low when compared to later controllers. This led to the release of the SJ-300 and SJ-300M, and prompted Sega to bundle the SG-1000 II with SJ-150 D-pads.
