The Mega Sg by Analogue is a Sega Mega Drive-compatible video game console. Engineered with the same FPGA technology used for Analogue's other systems like the Nt Mini and Super Nt, the Mega Sg aims to run games at 1080p with zero lag and absolute accuracy, using an Altera Cyclone V FPGA.

A limited version of the console was sold in association with London-based record label Hyperdub, which included the cartridge album Konsolation. 1000 units were sold, of which 150 were available through Hyperdub's website.[5]

Features

The Mega Sg can play thousands of games from the Mega Drive's cartridge library at upscaled HD resolutions up to 1080p at 50/60Hz, along with additional options to scale the screen size and aspect ratio to the player's liking, additional shaders up to HQ4x, enable interpolation, add customisable scanlines to the image, use dither blending to simulate blending colours of a CRT TV, and options to reduce picture lag or to recreate the original system lag. Audio output is also customisable, complete with low-pass filter settings and individual channel volume settings. These settings can all be accessed during gameplay by pressing Down +  START  at any time.

In addition to standard cartridges, a wide variety of special cartridges are compatible with the system. These include Sonic & Knuckles's Lock-On Technology, cheat cartridges like the Game Genie, Virtua Racing (which uses the SVP), and flash carts like the Everdrive MD and Master Everdrive.

The Mega Sg is also compatible with games released for the Sega Master System and Sega Mega-CD. The system comes with a game cartridge adapter that allows the user to connect a Master System cartridge to the console, and coming with additional features for Master System games such as support for the YM2413 core. Other cartridge adapters have been announced to allow cartridges and cards for the Sega Mark III, Game Gear, SG-1000 and SC-3000 to run, and each will be sold separately. The console's edge connector hidden behind an expansion door on the side allows it to connect to any Mega-CD to play Mega-CD games in 1080p. The Sega 32X is currently not supported due to the add-on's reliance on multi analog video linking.

The system is sold in four colour schemes, three of which recreate the colour schemes used by systems sold in the United States, PAL regions and Japan, and a white model. All standard Mega Drive and Master System controllers can be used with the system, as well as 8BitDo's wireless M30 Gamepad.

Also included as a built-in game is the unreleased title Hardcore, rebranded as Ultracore for legal reasons.
