Yokkaichi Galbo (四日市ガルボ), later Sega World Yokkaichi Galbo (セガワールド四日市ガルボ), is a former Galbo and latterly Sega World venue opened by Sega.

Originally opened under the Amusement Theme Park concept in March 1995,[1] its attractions and entry fee were scrapped by December,[3] with it remaining as a game centre until its closure in February 2008.[2]

History

Located on the premises of the Power City outdoor strip mall, Yokkaichi Galbo was the fourth indoor theme park venue opened by Sega, becoming one of three Galbo parks alongside the then-flagship Yokohama Joypolis. It proved to perform poorly in the following months, and all of its attractions besides AS-1 and Virtua Formula had been removed by December.[3] A discontinuation of the plans for further Galbo locations occurred shortly afterwards, eventually rendering all three of the existing venues as little more than game centres.

By the late 1990s, it had became officially recognised as a Sega World, though the original Galbo branding remained intact. The venue's second floor became disused in the process of this, only seeing use for storage and a manga exhibition thereafter.[4] Sega Kara facilities were also added during this time. Sega World Yokkaichi Galbo became the final remaining Galbo venue after the September 2007 closure of the Osaka site, and would too close shortly afterwards in February 2008.[2]
