Story

In the 13th century, the Cathars, clerics who preached about the poverty of Christ and defended life without material aspirations, were treated as heretics by the Catholic Church and expelled out of the Languedoc region in France. One of them, called Jean Raymond, found an old church in which to hide from crusaders, not knowing that beneath its ruins lay buried an ancient evil.

Gameplay

In L'Abbaye des Morts, you play as Jean Raymond, a Cathar monk, trying to escape from a fatal fate at the hands of the Crusade knights who are hunting him.

The main objective of the game is to explore the various chambers within the old church, avoiding numerous enemies, and collecting 12 Cathar crosses that will prepare you to do final battle with the ancient evil that lies within.

To achieve your goal, you will have to locate and access various triggers to open up the game environment and use the cryptic messages from scrolls to work out a few of the hidden access points through out the game.
