The NBA Action series is a set of basketball games created by a number of different developers contracted by Sega. The purpose of NBA Action was to accompany Sega's World Series Baseball and NFL franchises, giving Sega consoles a selection of exclusive sports games. The NBA Action would be dropped after the Sega Saturn's demise, being replaced with the NBA 2K series (which continues to this day, albeit under a different publisher).
