The Ricoh RF5C164 is a sound chip by Ricoh for the Sega Mega-CD add-on. It is capable of playing 8 channels of 8-bit PCM audio simultaneously.
A similar (but not identical) sound chip to the RF5C164 was the RF5C68, used in the Fujitsu FM Towns series of computers. This chip is used concurrently with the YM2612, borrowed from the Sega Mega Drive.
