Spider-Man: The Videogame is a Sega System 32 arcade action game based on the Spider-Man franchise. It combines beat-'em-up gameplay with platforming mechanics.

Some music tracks were recycled from Quartet. According to Roppyaku Tsurumi, this is in reference to 4 players being able to play both games.[2]

Gameplay

Spider-Man: The Videogame is a four player beat-'em-up game. Players can either control Spider-Man, Hawkeye, Black Cat or Namor the Sub-Mariner, as they take on a number of Spider-Man villains, including Scorpion, Venom, Kingpin, Green Goblin, The Lizard, Electro, Doctor Octopus, Sandman and Hobgoblin. Many have to be fought more than once during the course of the game.

Despite being a Spider-Man game, the main antagonist, is Doctor Doom, who although has battled Spider-Man several times in the comics, is usually depicted as an enemy of the Fantastic Four.

Once per chapter, the game shifts between the pseudo-3D beat-'em-up style (where players can move into and out of the screen), to more traditional 2D platforming.
