The Winter International Consumer Electronics Show 1995 (WCES 1995) was the final CES event in which video games took up a large percentage of the show floor (being replaced by E3 which began later in the year). Due to declining popularity, no "summer" CES event took place in 1995 year, making Las Vegas the sole home of CES.

Sega returned to the Alexis Park hotel, which it had used for several years for WCES, hosting a press conference there prior to the main CES event, detailing the company's strategy, officially introducing the Sega Neptune and naming Deion Sanders as the "official spokesman" for Sega Sports[2].

This year, Sony's representatives were also staying at Alexis Park. Traditionally Sega would put a five-foot Sonic the Hedgehog inflatable outside the hotel's entrance, however this year Sony representatives deflated it and threw it in the swimming pool[3]. In retaliation, Sega defaced Sony's "PSX welcomes Sega" balloons with "Play Sega 32X"[3].

This was the event in which the localised "black" Sega Saturn for Western markets was first shown[4], although Sega's focus was geared around the Sega 32X. Sega also used the event to announce a letter of intent from Microsoft to create Softimage 3D development kits for Saturn developers[5][6]. They also announced an agreement to incorporate QSound technology into their consoles[5].

Acclaim Entertainment had recently signed a distribution deal with Digital Pictures, so its games appeared at the Acclaim booth (alongside some Domark titles). Electronic Arts was not officially at the show, but instead held an event at Planet Hollywood[7]. Its games have been included here for simplicity.

Magicians Penn & Teller appeared on stage to promote Absolute Entertainment's Penn & Teller's Smoke and Mirrors (or "P&T's S&M"[8]), which included a skit where Teller, with a Mega Drive Control Pad attached to his head, was "controlled" by game designer Barry Marx (before being cut in half with an electric saw)[8].
