Midway Presents Arcade's Greatest Hits: The Atari Collection 1 is a compilation of various classic arcade games originally developed by Atari. It was brought to the Sega Saturn by Digital Eclipse and Midway Games.
Games included
- Asteroids
- Battlezone
- Centipede
- Missile Command
- Super Breakout
- Tempest
The game has analog controls in Centipede, Missile Command, and Super Breakout when played with a Mission Stick. This analog mode will not work on the 3D Control Pad.
History
Even though this compilation was originally published by Midway Games, who in turn owned Atari Games at this point, the games were in fact licensed from Atari Corporation which had split in 1984, taking the "classic" Atari intellectual properties with them. The Atari Collection 2, which was not released on Sega consoles, goes one step further, featuring games by both Atari Games and Atari Corporation. These are among the only situations where the two Atari branches were officially "reunited".
