Tectoy company quickly stroke a deal to become the exclusive representative of Sega . In the coming years they would release all of Sega's game machines, from the Master System to the Dreamcast.
The first contact with Sega was in 1988 when Tectoy produced the Zillion pistol, but Sega did not authorize the Brazilian company to sell its products. This changed in 1989 when Tectoy started selling the Sega Master System.
With Tec Toy, Sega had a huge advantage over rival Nintendo in the Brazilian market; although there were countless NES clones there, Nintendo had no official representatives.Game Boy appeared in 1991 as a trial party introduced by Itochu which was a distributor of Nintendo in Latin America. The real Nintendo representative appeared in 1993 thanks to Playtronic.[1] This way, the Master System was a massive success there, and Tec Toy even made some versions not released anywhere else. During the 1990s, Tec Toy had 80% of the Brazilian market.
Tectoy is the official distributor of Sega products in Brazil to this days. However, SEGA’s products after 2001 are available in that region by different distributors. ref>https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tectoy</ref>
