REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (April 18, 1996) - SegaSoft, Inc. and Mpath Interactive today announced that SegaSoft has taken a strategic investment in Mpath Interactive, a company dedicated to improving social interaction on the Internet's World Wide Web. Under terms of the agreement, SegaSoft, an independent U.S. software development company, will acquire an equity position in Mpath, making SegaSoft the largest single investor in the Cupertino, Calif. company excluding employees and venture partners. SegaSoft Chairman Nobuo Mii will sit on the board of Mpath Interactive. "Our alliance with Mpath Interactive is in keeping with our overall strategy announced last year," Mii said. "We recognize Mpath's platform technology and expertise as the best in the industry. Our investment is in line with our philosophy of aligning ourselves with the best companies in specific arenas as we move forward." This represents the first step in SegaSoft's aggressive efforts to become the definitive provider of interactive experiences for people who want to be entertained or informed.
