Doom (32X)/Technical information

From Sega Retro

Prototypes

Something isn't quite adding up with the prototypes listed in the dump table - Hidden Palace has not listed any of the alleged prototypes from 1994-12-01 on their site as "Doom" prototypes, however all three 1995 prototypes are listed as "Doom RR" prototypes, and the 1994-12-01 prototype is a redirect to the 1994-10-01 prototype. What's going on here, and how are we to resolve this? --SorachiJirachi (talk) 16:43, 16 July 2024 (EDT)

The "RR" ones are mysterious post-release builds ("re-release?"), the theory being that maybe there were plans for a second revision of the game at some point. It's not known how they differ from the retail version though (the Doom community is huge so I figured someone would have worked it out by now). -Black Squirrel (talk) 16:51, 16 July 2024 (EDT)
So the best action to do with these is label them as "Doom RR" in the comments fields as such? Also, looking into the redirect issue, the "1994-12-01" seems to have been an error on Hidden Palace's behalf, so that one I should fix to the correct date on the table, then. --SorachiJirachi (talk) 16:55, 16 July 2024 (EDT)
