Atari

Since 1972 numerous companies have been trading under the name Atari.
- Atari, Inc. (1972–1984) (1972–1984) - the original company founded by Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney responsible for products such as Pong and the Atari 2600.
- Atari Games (1984–1996) - the arcade division of Atari Inc. spun-off in 1984. Responsible for a number of 80s arcade games. Became Midway Games West in 1996.
- Atari Corporation (1984–1998) - the consumer division of Atari Inc. also spun-off in 1984. Responsible for home computers such as the Atari ST.
Sega has delt with all three companies in some form or another. Atari Games no longer exists, whereas Atari Corporation went through a series of buyouts and is no longer known by that name. Awkwardly it is now known as Atari Inc. and is owned by Atari, SA, formely Infogrames Entertainment, SA.
Also of note is Tengen, Atari Games' console division, which later became part Time Warner Interactive and also merged into Midway Games West.
