Baku Baku Animal (ばくばくアニマル), known only as Baku Baku in some regions, is a falling block puzzle game released for the Sega Titan Video arcade hardware.

Baku Baku Animal was ported to the Sega Saturn and Windows PC in 1996. It was also one of the last titles released for the Sega Game Gear, released in the same year. In Brazil, Sega's distributor Tec Toy released a version for the Sega Master System in 1998, which is almost identical to the Game Gear version but with a reduced color palette and added borders. There was also a mobile phone release in 2002.

Curiously artwork used in Baku Baku Animal was recycled in the PAL versions of Sonic CD (PC) and Sonic Jam.

Gameplay

Baku Baku Animal is similar in nature to Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo - it is a competitive two-player falling block puzzle game in which players compete to clear containers of blocks. Players need to link together one or more "food blocks" before removing each connected block in one go with an "animal block".

Baku Baku is combo-based, with blocks being manipulated by gravity. This means with correct positioning it is possible to destroy two or more sets of food blocks in succession, thereby creating chains and sending extra blocks to the opposing player, disrupting their play. Once the container is filled with blocks the game ends.
