stubPAGENAME is a game that was released in 1993 by Sega for the Mega Drive/Genesis video game system. It is based on the children's television and home video franchise known as the "Barney" franchise. The voice of Barney was recorded by Bob West, who also performed the "Barney" role on the television show. There are more than one hundred words and two hundred phrases spoken by Barney the Dinosaur. Favorite things are always mentioned by name by Barney when the player helps him discover them. Educational concepts taught in this game include counting, matching, and problem solving. There is a self-play feature that guides the player to the objective when he or she isn't playing. Strangely, despite being an educational game aimed towards pre-school children, this title is not part of the Sega Club series.

In this game, the objective is to move Barney around four themed levels and locate five children (including the Baby Bop character) and five presents (ball, teddy bear, rubber duck, truck, doll) that are hiding throughout the level. Unlike action games, the player is not allowed to die; a lack of a proper health bar also indicates Barney's inability to die. The game emphasizes safety; should Barney try to fall from a ledge, a safety lecture is given. Should the player find all the children and presents in different levels, they would be rewarded with a "special surprise". During the surprise, the purple balloons are popped while confetti and streamers are drizzled in the presence of excited children in addition to Barney and Baby Bop.

Barney must locate both five children and five presents hiding throughout each of the four different levels to progress. Barney can walk, jump, and float with a balloon to reach new areas; he can also blow kisses by pressing any button, although this has no effect on gameplay. By locating all children and presents in all levels, a special ending is unlocked.

When nowhere near an object to interact with, Barney can blow kisses in the air complete with flying heart symbols. Locating a child results in giving him or her a hug. Barney can even fly on balloons, float on clouds, and jump on nearby platforms. Sound quality can be questionable on certain parts; "fish" tends to be one of the words that the game has trouble vocalizing correctly.

Barney's Hide & Seek Game is a Sega Mega Drive educational children's game developed by Realtime Associates and published by Sega. Released in the United States in June 1993, it was later released in Brazil in June 1994. Based on the popular children's television franchise Barney, the game features extensive digitized voices recorded by Barney performer Bob West, and introduces children to concepts such as numbers, shapes, and basic problem solving.

Gameplay

Barney must locate both five children and five presents hiding throughout each of the four different levels to progress. Barney can walk, jump, and float with a balloon to reach new areas; he can also blow kisses by pressing any button, although this has no effect on gameplay. By locating all children and presents in all levels, a special ending is unlocked.

Barney does not have a health bar and cannot be harmed. In fact, the game emphasizes safety to such a degree, that if Barney should try to fall from a ledge, the player is presented with a lecture on ledge safety. Additionally, there is a self-play feature that will walk Barney to the end of the level should players put the controller down for an extended time.[1]
