1989 was a slow start for the Sega Mega Drive as far as third-party support went — Technosoft was the first to put its third-party title, Thunder Force II, out. However, Sega produced a rush of first-party games, mostly focusing on arcade ports of its games and several other third-party companies's games (such as Toaplan's), as the Mega Drive's marketing at the time focused on it being a home arcade machine, as well as several original games and franchise installments that landed the system to a decent start internationally.
