Echidna was a video game development company founded in 1989, in California, by programmer John Alvarado after graduating from the University of California (UCLA) with his old friends and schoolmates, Gregg Tavares, Greg Marquez, Ron Nakada and Dan Chang. The company is known for creating TUME, a versatile map editor, which was licensed to many video game development companies in the early 90s.
