Korwin was a United States Army Air Forces World War II veteran, where he served as a Central Fire Control Gunner with the rank of Technical Sergeant (service number : 39727369[4]), aboard the Boeing B-29 Superfortress heavy bomber[5], "City of Scotland Neck"[6] a.k.a. "Southern Drawl"[7] (B-29 # 44-69769), as a member of the Twentieth Air Force 39th Bomb Group (VH), 60th Squadron[8], Crew 14[9] (San Francisco, California).
