MasterGear

MasterGear running Alex Kidd in Miracle World.

MasterGear is a Sega Master System, Sega Game Gear and SG-1000 emulator originally for DOS and Windows, written by Marat Fayzullin. The emulator shares part of the source code of fMSX — an MSX emulator previously written by himself.

Not all versions of MasterGear were released as freeware, with the last free version available for Windows users being a DOS-only one released on 6 December 1996, up until 2017. On the 15th February, 2017 the author released version 3.7 for free, for Windows and Linux. An official Android version is also available on Google Play, which has more features and costs U$4.99.

Although the source code isn't freely available, MasterGear was ported to a variety of systems through the years, such as OS/2, BeOS, Sony PlayStation and many others.
