MicroProse, Inc. was an American video game developer and publisher which specialized in personal computer strategy simulation games, most notably the critically-acclaimed Civilization and X-COM series.

Company

MicroProse was founded by "Wild" Bill Stealey and Sid Meier in 1982.

MicroProse merged with Spectrum HoloByte in December 1993[3], the two brands continuing to exist separately until 1997, where there Spectrum Holoybyte name was dropped in favour of MicroProse. MicroProse was then acquired by Hasbro Interactive in 1998[4], becoming a wholly owned subsidiary. The branding continued to be utilized until Hasbro Interactive was itself acquired by Infogrames in 2001.
