For decades Sega has maintained a list of part numbers for physical products it has created, ranging from game disc and box labels, to screw sizes and electronic components. Everything that makes up a Sega product usually has an internal part number, designed exclusively for Sega.
Sega part numbers typically take the form of a three-part code separated by hypens:
XXX-YY..YY-ZZ
In this example, the X section represents a three character code depicting the type of part. The Y section, initially 4 but now often six (or more) characters in length, is an exclusive code to the specific part. The Z section is an optional region code or revision. Initially codes were constructed entirely out of digits between 0 and 9, though it is more common in newer arcade machines to see letters, often to give clues for game-specific parts.
Not all parts of a Sega product conform to this standard, particularly those sourced from outside of the company.
List of part numbers
The following pages list known Sega part numbers with descriptions. It is vastly incomplete.
