ALAMEDA, Calif., Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Announcing fresh from Wimbledon, the hottest man in tennis, Pete Sampras, in "Pete Sampras Tennis" on Sega Genesis and Game Gear from Spectrum HoloByte. With all the features of international tennis, "Pete Sampras Tennis" is the first game to be manufactured on the revolutionary new J-Cart (joypad cartridge) for Genesis. This marks the first time the J-Cart will be available in the U.S.

J-Cart features two additional joypad connectors built into the game cartridge, thus enabling true simultaneous four-player action without the need of a separate adapter. On Game Gear, there is an innovative two-player feature in addition to the cable-link option.

"Pete Sampras Tennis" is the simulation of top international competition. With a huge variety of shots available, the game can be played at an incredibly vicious speed. A vast array of match-play options allows an astounding variety of singles and doubles competitions never before offered.

Featuring more than 30 different male and female tennis players; three courts: clay, grass or hard; one-player games against a seven- level computer opponent and two-player straight match competition -- "Pete Sampras Tennis" is a joy to play.

"Pete Sampras Tennis" is not only thoroughly playable, but also wins on top-class presentation. Three different styles of matches are available: a Challenge match (one to three sets), Tournament (up to eight players compete in a local league) or the grueling World Tour, taking you around the globe's top courts, playing every competitor.

Pete Sampras delivers a realistic feel of the game. All the matches are governed by full Tennis Association rules, and the graphics are constructed from over 4,000 frames of animation providing the on-screen players with almost life-like movement.

"Pete Sampras Tennis," Sega Genesis, is now available. Its estimated price is $59.95. "Pete Sampras Tennis," Game Gear, is scheduled to ship in November 1994 at an estimated price of $34.95.
