<pre>REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 29, 1994--Seeing its competitors continue to lose momentum, Sega of America Inc. captured its second straight monthly market share victory for the digital interactive entertainment industry's all-important holiday selling season.

According to NPD Research's TRSTS report for the month of November (the most recent reporting period), Sega of America holds a 53 percent share of the 16-bit video game segment. The 16-bit segment is the most important and best-selling component of the overall video game category within the larger industry.

This means Sega is assured of overall victory for the segment, category and industry for the entire holiday season. Sega now enjoys 55 percent unit share of all 16-bit systems, calendar year-to-date through November. Importantly, trade reports through mid-December show that Sega Genesis (TM) increased its lead over the competition as Christmas approached.

Despite dramatically increased competitive spending and new product introductions on the SNES game systems, Sega continues to lead the industry.
