REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 7, 1995--Sega of America Thursday announced a coupon offer worth $10 off three new Sega Saturn games, "Astal," "Blackfire" and "Ghen War," for consumers who purchase and register their Sega Saturn system between Sept. 2 and Sept. 30.

The promotion complements Sega's aggressive marketing campaign to give gamers $150 in free hit titles with any purchase of Sega Saturn at selected retailers this September.

"No other next-generation video game system has the depth of gameplay, exclusive hit arcade titles, library breadth, experience in the business and overall value that Sega Saturn offers," said Mike Ribero, executive vice president, marketing and sales, Sega of America. "The experience of Sega Saturn simply cannot be equaled."

Coupons and Free Software Incentives

Consumers who register their Sega Saturn systems during this promotion will receive a $10 coupon good toward the purchase of any one of three new titles, as well as a free copy of "Virtua Fighter Remix." "Astal" is currently available at retail, while "Blackfire" and "Ghen War" will ship this fall.

The coupon incentive is just one component of an aggressive software promotion for Sega Saturn during the month of September. From Sept. 2 through Sept. 30, everyone who buys a Sega Saturn system from selected retailers qualifies to receive three free games with their system, in addition to the arcade hit "Virtua Fighter" already packed in the box.

The free games include "Clockwork Knight," "Worldwide Soccer" and "Virtua Fighter Remix" -- a special-edition, graphically enhanced upgrade to the world's most popular fighting arcade game, "Virtua Fighter."

In addition, registered owners purchasing Sega Saturn systems before April 1, 1996, will receive "That Virtua Feeling," a compilation music CD produced exclusively for Sega from Sub Pop Records, and the first level of "Panzer Dragoon" at no additional cost while supplies last.

Broadening Sega Saturn's Game Library

The newest "trilogy" of exclusive games -- only available on Sega Saturn -- spans several video game genres; "Astal" is a Japanese-inspired animated action-adventure, "Blackfire" a mid-air helicopter combat challenge, and "Ghen War" a futuristic, intergalactic battle for survival.

Sega Saturn's growing software library of first-party games boasts arcade hits such as "Virtua Fighter" and "Daytona U.S.A.," popular original titles like "Panzer Dragoon" and the recent sleeper hit, "BUG!" Third-party support for Sega Saturn is also strong and growing. Sega expects 70 first- and third-party titles to be available by Christmas.
