Sega's Classic Arcade Title, 'V.R. Virtua Racing(TM)' Recreated For Home Play

MILPITAS, Calif., Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Time Warner Interactive's (TM) "V.R. Virtua Racing(TM)" releases today on the Sega Saturn(TM). In a licensing agreement signed earlier this year with Sega of Japan, Time Warner Interactive (TWi) secured the worldwide rights to produce Sega's hit, "V.R. Virtua Racing(TM)," for the Sega Saturn system. Staying true to the arcade look and feel, but with a host of added features to enhance home play, Time Warner Interactive's "V.R. Virtua Racing" will be available at retail locations nationwide for an estimated street price of $49.95.

"'Virtua Racing' is one of the all time classic arcade driving games," stated Mark Beaumont, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Product Development at TWi, "and Time Warner Interactive, with its experience in both the arcade and home systems, has the resources to do it right. This is a title with a tremendous following and expectations and it was imperative to fully translate the look and feel. Our job was really two-fold: recreate the arcade experience, while adding a whole new dimension to bring a fresh challenge to the race."

In addition to more cars, tracks and hidden surprises than in any previously released version of the game, Time Warner Interactive's "V.R. Virtua Racing" for the Sega Saturn has all the classic arcade game features and elements that players have come to love: 3D polygonal environment, the three original arcade tracks, a lightning fast software engine, multiple racing views, and all-out driving fun.

Time Warner Interactive's "V.R. Virtua Racing" offers a total of 5 different racing machines to master for victory over 10 wild tracks and your shot at the World Championship. And that's not all. Your competition has been outfitted with artificial intelligence that offers up human-like personality characteristics from aggressive, to ambitious, to cut-throat. On the track that translates into blind passing and blocking at break-neck speeds. Tour success will depend on your ability to outsmart and out drive the competition with razor sharp skills.
