In addition to the original three music tracks plus the two tracks added by the 3DS version ("Cruising Line" and "Camino a Mi Amor"), four new songs have been added. Three of these tracks are arcade-style remixes of songs from previous OutRun games: "Step on Beat" from the Sega Mega Drive version, "Radiation" from 2006: Coast 2 Coast, and "Midnight Highway" from the Sega Master System's 3D. The last one is "Driver's Megamix Vol. 1", a synthwave-style medley of the three original tracks. The first two tracks are remixed using the original sound engine, while the latter two are streamed audio, and represented in the game with cassette tapes.

The player can also choose to steer using gyro controls, and unlock the Tune-Up customization settings which also return from the 3DS version. Sega Ages OutRun (SEGA AGES アウトラン) is a re-release of OutRun developed by M2 as the fourth entry in the Sega Ages lineup for the Nintendo Switch.

Gameplay

Sega Ages OutRun retains some of the extra features and improvements that were added to 3D OutRun on the Nintendo 3DS, such as the doubled framerate and widescreen ratio. In addition to the original three music tracks plus the two tracks added by the 3DS version ("Cruising Line" and "Camino a Mi Amor"), four new songs have been added. Three of these tracks are arcade-style remixes of songs from previous OutRun games: "Step on Beat" from the Sega Mega Drive version, "Radiation" from OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast, and "Midnight Highway" from the Sega Master System's OutRun 3D. The last one is "Driver's Megamix Vol. 1", a synthwave-style medley of the three original tracks. The first two tracks are remixed using the original sound engine, while the latter two are streamed audio, and represented in the game with cassette tapes.

The player can also choose to steer using gyro controls, and unlock the Tune-Up customization settings, which also return from the 3DS version. The game is in "Special Mode" by default, but when all five endings have been reached, "Arcade Mode" is unlocked, which is the original arcade game with its original 30fps speed. The player also has the ability to save and load game progress, and save replays of their sessions.
