Sega GT 2002 is a sequel to Sega GT, released exclusively on the Xbox in 2002. It was originally due to be released as a Sega Dreamcast game, but development switched to the Xbox following the Dreamcast's demise as a home video game console. Sega GT 2002 was pitched as Sega's answer to Gran Turismo 3, which had seen success on the PlayStation 2. A revised version, Sega GT Online, was released a year later.

A soundtrack album, Sega GT 2002 Original Soundtrack, was released in Japan two months after the game.
