''Sega Touring Car Championship Special'' followed in the footsteps of the older ''[[Sega Rally Special Stage]]'', being a specialised version of ''Touring Car'', with players riding inside full-sized vehicles acting as motion simulators on a 6 axis motion base. Unlike ''Sega Rally Special Stage'', however, it was built with a choice of three cars; the Toyota Supra, AMG-Mercedes C-Class and Alfa Romeo 155; meaning the Opel Calibra was removed entirely from the game, and making it possible to race against two other opponents.

Sega Touring Car Championship Special (セガツーリングカーチャンピオンシップスペシャル) was a medium-scale attraction version of the Sega Model 2 arcade game Sega Touring Car Championship. A small version of the attraction first appeared at Kyoto Joypolis on opening day[1], before also going on to appear at a number of other Joypolis venues in a larger capacity.

Sega Touring Car Championship Special was largely similar to Sega Rally Special Stage, being a specialised version of the Touring Car arcade game with players riding inside motion-enabled full-sized vehicles. Unlike its predecessor, however, it was built with a choice of multiple cars - the original version sited at Kyoto Joypolis featured the AMG-Mercedes C-Class and Alfa Romeo 155, while later installations added the Toyota Supra.
