Star Trek: The Next Generation: Echoes from the Past is an adventure game based on the Star Trek: The Next Generation television series. It was released for the Sega Mega Drive exclusively in the Americas in 1994.

A Mega-CD version was planned for later in 1994[3], but cancelled.

History

Release

Echoes from the Past was prevented from a planned release[4] in Europe as it "[didn't] represent value for money"[3][5]. A 16-megabit cartridge with battery back-up would have led to the game selling at £59.99 in the UK[3]. There was also a suggestion that the show itself was only available on satellite TV at the time, limiting its audience[5] (although this is not strictly true, as the UK's public broadcaster, the BBC had obtained the rights to the first three seasons and were airing them at the time - seasons 4, 5, 6 and 7 were only available on satellite channel Sky One).
