Super Street Fighter II Turbo

Play as "old" characters

In Versus Mode, pick any character on the Character Select screen by holding L or R and pressing any punch or kick button or  START . If done successfully, one of the character's voice lines will play and the character will be selected with his or her original color scheme. This selects the Super Street Fighter II version of the character.

"Old" versions of characters do not have a Super meter and cannot reduce throw damage. They also lack any new moves or balance changes added to them in Super Street Fighter II Turbo. For example, "Old Ryu" can no longer perform his Sakotsu Wari or Mizoochi Kudaki attacks, which were introduced in Super Street Fighter II Turbo, but his fireball recovery is significantly faster, as it was in Super Street Fighter II.

Play as Akuma (Gouki)

On the Player Select screen, highlight Ryu. While holding L, press R.[1] Akuma is playable in both single-player and two-player games.

Fight Akuma (Gouki)

To fight Akuma in the single-player mode, the player must make it to M. Bison without using a continue and meet one of the following conditions:

  • Game time is less than 1,500 seconds upon beating Sagat.
  • Game score is at least 1,200,000 upon beating Sagat.

If these conditions are met, Akuma pummels M. Bison before the fight begins and challenges the player instead.[2]
