Graffiti Kings from Berlin...

So these four Berliner fellas are Erik Mahnkopf, Malte Nickau and two anonymous friends... they were the winners of Popcorn Magazine's graffiti competition "Stylt den Sega Champion Train!" (Style the Sega Champion Train!). This clipping must be from the May 1993 issue of Popcorn Magazine ... in the April 1993 issue, Popcorn readers sent photos of their finished graffiti (yep ... we want scans of those magazines)... these four guys spent two days in Munich decorating the two carriages of the train... =) ...--Asagoth (talk) 05:26, 17 December 2020 (EST)

Edit: To avoid confusion ... I said "must be from the May 1993 issue of Popcorn Magazine" (I bet it is from May 1993) because no date is featured in that clipping... because as it's said on it "...Nach unserem Graffiti-Wettbewerb aus Heft 4/93..." ("...After our graffiti competition on issue 4/93..)... so ...--Asagoth (talk) 06:50, 17 December 2020 (EST)
Wow!!! ... life was quite generous with them... they founded Berlin-based communications agency "GRACO"... well done, dudes... =) ...--Asagoth (talk) 13:59, 17 December 2020 (EST)

The two "dorks" in the logo...

I know that there's people here interested in these two guys... whoever they were, or wathever they were called (apparently they had no names)... they were the face of Sega's German promotional campaign (for some time in 1993) that followed the "Wo Ist Mein Sega" campaign... I'm not sure what those guys at Sega Germany in Hamburg were thinking, but those two "dorks" were basically a rip-off of "Wayne and Garth" from "Wayne's World" and even used some of their catchphrases but "converted to Sega"... it was not well received by German youth ... in a study made at the time, some German kids were asked of what they thought about the commercials (one, two) with those two guys... kids reacted negatively, saying that they looked stupid and their catchphrases annoying and embarrasing... that's why these two "dorks" that Sega Germany thought were cool and represented the youth they were supposed to target, didn't last long... source: book "Kinder im Werbenetz: Eine qualitative Studie zum Werbeangebot und zum Werbeverhalten von Kindern" ("Children in the advertising network: A qualitative study of advertising offers and advertising behavior of children") ... we need to get a copy of this book... is full of German secrets...--Asagoth (talk) 17:07, 2 January 2021 (EST)

Edit: Do you guys want more evidences?... just look at this... one (from issue #15 of Micky Maus-Magazin, 1993-04-07) and two ... "Games World" rhymes with "Wayne's World"...--Asagoth (talk) 19:07, 3 January 2021 (EST)
2nd Edit: Here's another example... this commercial is basically a rip-off of this scene from "Wayne's World" where Wayne's ex-girlfriend goes to a restaurant where Wayne and his friends were eating, to try to "mend fences" with him, saying that she stills love him and gives him a "Gun Rack" as a Present and Wayne says "What Am I Gonna Do, With a Gun Rack?" ... in the German commercial the guys are in the boys locker room of their school, when the ex-girlfriend of one of the guys tries to "mend fences" with him and gives him a Mega Drive and he says "Wow a Mega Drive... What Am I Gonna Do, With a Mega Drive?... I don't even have any games"... --Asagoth (talk) 04:55, 4 January 2021 (EST)
3rd Edit: the more I dig, the weirder things get... not only was this campaign a rip-off of "Wayne's World" it also rips off a slogan from Milka :) ... "Lila Pause" a candy bar from Milka used the slogan "Die schönsten Pausen sind Lila!" ("The nicest breaks are Lila!"... "Lila" means also "purple" in German) in their commercials in the 90s... Sega Germany ripped off the slogan which became "Die schönsten Pausen sind Sega!" ("The nicest breaks are Sega!") and made those two "nerds" sing the slogan in the end of these two commercials: Global Gladiators; Ecco and Rolo ... =) ... the commercial for Global Gladiators (30 seconds; 12 takes) is described in detail (take by take) in this book Fernsehwerbung und Kinder - Das Werbeangebot in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland und seine Verarbeitung durch Kinder Band 1: Das Werbeangebot für Kinder im Fernsehen (TV commercials and children - The advertising offer in the Federal Republic of Germany and its processing by children Volume 1: The advertising offer for children on television): page 138 (144), page 139 (145), page 140 (146)... what kind of "weed" those guys of Sega Germany smoked in 1993? ... :)--Asagoth (talk) 15:33, 5 January 2021 (EST)
