Introduction
The Japanese version has an introduction before the first round starts.
Round 1
The background has been changed from a marina in the Japanese version to a downtown street in the Western version.
The boss of the first round was recolored in the Western releases and has a different special attack (throwing donuts instead of farting).
Round 2
The first part of the second round is partially obscured by a spotlight effect in the Western version but fully visible in the Japanese version.
The graffiti on the train cars is different in the two versions.
Round 3
The third round autoscrolls in the Western version (like all of the other rounds) but not the Japanese version. The background has also been redesigned (with foreground elements added as well).
Round 5
In the Japanese version, the entire round is one long boss rush, with DJ Boy skating to the next boss after defeating one. In the Western version, there is a short sequence where the player fights regular enemies before the boss rush takes place in a boxing ring.
Final boss
The skin tone of the final boss has been lightened in the Western version.
Epilogue
The epilogue is accompanied by artwork in the Japanese version, but it is displayed as only text in the Western version.
Balloon cat
The balloon cat (which drops a hamburger when knocked out of the air) appears several times in the Japanese version but only once in the Western version (before the boss rush in the fifth round).
